Crunchyroll Unveils Kardboard Kings: A Card Shop and Collector Simulator
Crunchyroll has expanded its Android vault by adding Kardboard Kings, a thrilling single-player management game where you take on the role of a card shop owner. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this game is now available on mobile, courtesy of Crunchyroll. If you're a Crunchyroll member, you can download Kardboard Kings for free from the Google Play Store.
What's the Deal in Kardboard Kings?
In Kardboard Kings, you step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, who has recently inherited a card shop from his father, a legendary card collector and former champion of the card game Warlock. As the new proprietor, Harry embarks on an exciting journey into the world of buying, selling, and trading cards.
Harry is joined by Giuseppe, a savvy cockatoo with a remarkable talent for fast-talking and deal-making. This charming seaside shop becomes your playground, where you can strive to satisfy every customer or, if you're feeling mischievous, even try to fleece them for extra cash.
The game is filled with delightful characters brimming with charm and sarcasm, and it's packed with references to other card games and anime. The cards themselves are a highlight, featuring over 100 unique designs with quirky illustrations, including shiny variants.
What's the Gameplay Like?
The gameplay in Kardboard Kings begins simply: buy low, sell high, and maximize your profits. As you delve deeper, you'll encounter fluctuating card conditions and set rarities that influence the value of each card, with factors like foil finish, abilities, and popularity all playing a role.
Beyond the shop, Kardboard Kings introduces a roguelite deckbuilding mode set on Card Game Island. Here, you can challenge formidable duelists, organize tournaments, host booster pack parties, or hold clearance sales to manage your inventory.
Developed by Henry’s House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross, and published by Akupara Games, Kardboard Kings has now been ported to consoles and is accessible on mobile through Crunchyroll. Don't miss out on this engaging card shop adventure if you're a Crunchyroll member!
