In the main quest "For Whom the Bell Tolls" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, Hans once again requires your assistance, this time at Trosky Castle. The recipe for Fever Tonic can be found in the Surgeon’s Workshop within Trosky Castle. You have two options to access this area. The first option involves sneaking into the workshop. Alternatively, you can use your persuasive skills to convince the chamberlain that you'll create a digestive potion to alleviate his stomach issues, which will grant you access to the workshop.

If you choose not to sneak into the kitchen, proceed with the objectives of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by delivering the horseshoe. After completing this task, return to the forge and engage with Cook Fanka. Offer to assist her with her locked chest, and she will lead you to the noble’s kitchen. Upon entering the kitchen behind her, you'll notice the chamberlain hunched over in pain. Engage him in conversation about his health and attempt to pass skill checks to convince him of your ability to help. Success here will grant you access to the Surgeon’s Workshop. If you craft or already have a digestive potion alongside the Fever Tonic and bring it to the chamberlain, he will allow you to meet Thomas.

If your skill checks fail, you'll need to resort to stealth. Steal some food, exit the kitchen, and head to the other side of the courtyard where you'll find a set of stairs leading to a door on your right. This door leads to another kitchen you're permitted to use, but a guard is present. Distract him by offering the stolen food, prompting him to leave. From there, sneak upstairs to locate the Surgeon’s Workshop. Inside, find the physician's journal on the bookshelf, read it, and use the station in the room to brew your potions.

How to Brew Fever Tonic

The herbs required for this potion are conveniently arranged on the surgeon's station. Open your book to the page for Fever Tonicum and follow these steps:

  1. Pour wine into the cauldron.
  2. Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
  3. Lower the cauldron and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
  4. Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves using the mortar and pestle.
  5. Add the ground Elderberry Leaves to the cauldron.
  6. Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
  7. Retrieve a phial from the bottom left shelf of the station, located under the wine.
  8. Distill the tonic using the Still.

Don't worry if you don't succeed on your first attempt. You have ample herbs to work with, and there are more in the chest in the room. Given your prior experience with potion-making, crafting the Fever Tonic should not be overly challenging.

Once you have the Fever Tonic, your next step is to reach Thomas. If you've earned the chamberlain's trust by providing a digestive potion, return to him with both potions. If not, use the noble’s kitchen to sneak up to the chapel where you'll find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Converse with Adele to complete the quest.
