The Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay and Story Unveiled in Game Reveal Event
The Blood of Dawnwalker's game reveal event unveiled exciting details about this upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG. Discover more about this captivating adventure below!
Welcome to Vale Sangora
Follow Coen, the Dawnwalker Protagonist
The January 16th reveal event shed light on the narrative-driven gameplay of The Blood of Dawnwalker. Players embody Coen, a Dawnwalker navigating a fictional 14th-century Medieval European world, Vale Sangora. Narrative director Jakub Szamalek describes Coen as an unconventional protagonist: "He’s a young guy who at heart is emotional, he can get vulnerable, he’s honest about how he feels." The trailer depicts Coen's conflict with Brencis, an ancient vampire controlling Vale Sangora. Coen's mission: save his family within 30 days and nights. While the game adheres to this timeframe, developers emphasize a flexible gameplay pace allowing for extensive exploration.
The trailer showcases Coen's superhuman abilities—a result of his vampiric nature—including incredible agility and magical prowess. Many fan questions remain unanswered, but Rebel Wolves addressed several via their official Discord server's FAQ channel.
The FAQ clarifies the nature of Dawnwalkers: human by day, vampire by night, yet distinct from a simple hybrid. The game's magic system is grounded in the occult, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings rather than flashy spells.
A Narrative Sandbox with Diverse Encounters
Coen, cursed with silver poisoning, strives to save his family. Despite this central goal, the game offers a "narrative sandbox," maximizing player agency and freedom in pursuing multiple paths to success. The nonlinear storyline and dynamic world react to player choices.
While multiplayer is absent to preserve the single-player experience, romanceable characters prevent Coen from facing his dark journey alone. He'll encounter diverse individuals, including uriashi, kobolds, and potentially werewolves.
Developed by Rebel Wolves—a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077—The Blood of Dawnwalker has no confirmed release date but is slated for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
