"Blizzard Shifts Strategy: Overwatch 2 Skins Free After Initial Paid Release"
Blizzard finds itself embroiled in yet another controversy surrounding Overwatch 2. The issue centers around a new appearance for Lucio, the Cyber DJ skin, which was initially offered for sale at $19.99. However, just a day later, Blizzard announced that this skin would be available for free as part of an upcoming Overwatch 2 event. Players who tuned into a Twitch broadcast on February 12 for just one hour could claim the same skin without any cost. This revelation came as a shock to those who had already purchased the skin, leading to widespread frustration and calls for refunds.

This isn't the first time Blizzard has faced backlash for selling cosmetic items only to later distribute them for free during promotional events. The Cyber DJ skin has since been removed from the store, and Blizzard has yet to comment on the possibility of offering refunds to affected players.
The situation is further complicated by the rising competition from Marvel Rivals, which is outperforming Overwatch 2 in various aspects. In response, Blizzard is set to unveil significant gameplay changes at a special Overwatch 2 Spotlight event. Scheduled for February 12, the broadcast will introduce new maps, heroes, and other exciting content. To showcase these updates, Blizzard will also host well-known streamers at their headquarters, giving fans a first look at the future of Overwatch 2.
