Black Ops 6 Dominates as Best-Selling Game of 2024

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Dominates US Game Sales in 2024

Circana's data reveals that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 secured the top spot as the best-selling game in the United States during 2024, extending the Call of Duty franchise's reign as the US market leader for an impressive 16 consecutive years. This success comes despite a slight overall dip in US gaming spending.

While overall US gamer spending decreased by 1.1% year-over-year, Circana attributes this decline to reduced hardware sales. Conversely, spending on add-ons and services saw a positive upswing, increasing by 2% and 6%, respectively.

EA Sports College Football 25 claimed the title of most popular sports game, launching to consoles in July.

Black Ops 6 and its companion title, Warzone 2, are set to launch their second season on January 28th, featuring a ninja-themed update and a thrilling crossover with the iconic "Terminator" universe.

Critical acclaim for Black Ops 6 centers on its diverse and engaging missions, preventing gameplay monotony and consistently surprising players. The game's shooting mechanics and innovative movement system, allowing for versatile movement and shooting capabilities even while falling or prone, received high praise from both players and critics.

The approximately eight-hour campaign length also garnered positive feedback, deemed neither too brief nor overly extensive. Player reviews largely echoed critical opinions, particularly highlighting the popular zombies mode and the overall campaign experience.

However, Black Ops 6 wasn't without its detractors. A significant portion of Steam user reviews cited technical issues as a major drawback. Reported problems include frequent game crashes and unreliable server connections, hindering progress through the story mode.
