Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

As if they could resist putting Alicia Silverstone back in the yellow and plaid. The iconic actress is reportedly set to reprise her starring role as Cher Horowitz in a highly anticipated Clueless sequel series for Peacock.

According to Variety, the series is currently in development with the streamer, though plot details are being kept under wraps. What we do know is that Silverstone will be involved, and the show will continue the story from the beloved 1995 film. This project is distinct from the Clueless spin-off that Peacock was planning in 2020.

The creative team behind this new series includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, as well as Jordan Weiss. They will be writing the series and also serve as executive producers alongside Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television will also be involved in the production.

This isn't the first time Clueless has been adapted for the small screen. Following the film's success, a television version aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone recently brought Cher back to life in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, showing her eagerness to revisit the character. It's no surprise she's ready to dive back into Cher's world.
