Abyss of Dungeons: Dark and Darker Mobile's New Name Revealed

Author : Ryan May 21,2025

Krafton has officially rebranded Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons, a move that signals their intent to distance themselves from Ironmace Studios and the ongoing legal battles with Nexon. This name change primarily affects the title and possibly some elements specific to the original Dark and Darker branding, while the core gameplay mechanics remain unchanged.

For those not in the loop, Ironmace Studios is currently entangled in a legal dispute with Nexon, who alleges that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, used trade secrets and assets developed during their time at Nexon to create Dark and Darker. The lawsuit continues to unfold, and as previously reported in February, there were indications that Dark and Darker Mobile might undergo a rebranding. This has now been confirmed with the new name, Abyss of Dungeons.

ytNo Difference
Reassuringly, the name change does not alter the core gameplay mechanics. Dark and Darker Mobile was already set to diverge significantly from its PC counterpart with a third-person perspective and other modifications, but fans can rest assured that the gameplay will remain consistent.

While this rebranding might be disappointing for Ironmace enthusiasts, there's hope that the legal issues will resolve soon, allowing fans to enjoy Abyss of Dungeons alongside the main PC version of Dark and Darker. An upcoming soft launch is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico, which is an exciting development for mobile gamers.
