Capcom has cleverly teased Resident Evil 9 in a video celebrating the 10 million player milestone for Resident Evil 4. Released on April 25, the short clip features Ada Wong conversing with a notorious villain, followed by scenes of Leon surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats, all heading towards a church. The video then shifts to a rock-themed segment with Dr. Salvador playing his chainsaw as a guitar, and Leon energetically fist-pumping. In the background, a rustic sign displays the message "Thank you for playing."

However, keen observers noticed that when the sign is rotated sideways, the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," representing the number 9. While some might dismiss this as a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem pointed out that the lower plank on the sign was absent in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was deliberately added.

One surprised viewer commented, "I know what you did here," accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.

PlayCapcom has also confirmed that *Resident Evil 9*, the next mainline entry in the series, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who previously directed *Resident Evil 7*. Nakanishi shared his challenges and excitement about the project, stating, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Although not officially confirmed, rumors suggest the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
